Post Thanksgiving Guilt Trip

Family at the Thanksgiving Feasting Table

I love Thanksgiving. So much. I am a food lover, a picky food lover, but a food lover nonetheless. And this year was probably the best food year I have had at Thanksgiving.

Oh The Places I'll Go...

Hey guys, long time no blog...

But don't you fret, I have been slaving away at the cutting board (happy present from mom along with a rotary cutter for an early christmas gift!) and sewing machine for the last couple weeks. But I am working on some top secret projects.
Ok, so not TOP secret, because I am a bad present secret keeper...

Present Receiver: What are you getting me?
Me: You really want to know?
Present Receiver: YES!
Me: ...insert gift...

Please forgive my absence!

I went away for nearly three weeks to get married and honeymoon. I have been back for a few days, but I don't think I will feel like myself until the weekend. In the meantime here are a few pictures from all of the festivities. Now that the wedding is over, there are several craft projects that I will be sharing from the day.

Halloween Disclosed

Remember when I said I needed to pick a Halloween costume for myself and Tilly? No? Well here it is.

So I thought about it. I talked about it. I asked people for ideas. I thought about it some more.

Seriously, I spend too much time on these sort of things and trying to figure it out.

And this year Tilly and I were....

It's a special day...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TRACY!

I Am Officially a Quilter!

wow. i really was not sure this day would come...but i did it. I DID IT!!! i actually finished my quilt! and it took so much less time than i anticipated. actually it may have taken many hours. but i was so into it and completely obsessed with it that time flew! this was honestly the project of my obsession. i thought about it while i was at work, while i was driving, while i was riding the bus on my too many trips to ohio, it even made its way into my dreams... i actually missed it when i was out of town...

here is my little baby...
i actually had a lot of patience with it. and i am so proud of myself in case you could not tell. i think this might be my new thing...

so my best friend this week, a miss JoAnn S. Fabric, sent me some mail inviting me to come spend money at her place. she was just too much for me to resist and i had to pay her a visit. and got sucked into spending some cash. how do you turn down 50% off clearance fabric (and they had a FABULOUS selection) and 20% off my total purchase? if you can do it, you are a better woman than i am...

here are the fabrics i picked out for my next quilting project...

and here is the beginnings of another quilting project i am going to work on. (started off as possibly the back of my obsession, but i decided against it
i shall keep you updated!

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice!

That's what little girls are made of....

So a few years ago, a certain friend of mine was getting married... and I was in her wedding. And so my intake of wedding blogs each week went crazy... and has not stopped. During that time though, I found some favorite authors who I started following on their personal blogs. Well of course, since they have gotten married, some of them have added to their little families. Which means I've moved from some wedding blogs to pregnancy blogs to baby blogs.

Going Strong...

I am still plugging away at this quilt...
In our last episode, I had picked out some fabrics from good old JoAnn Fabrics. I ended up going back once more and a trip to the fabric department at Walmart to get enough fabrics and patterns I liked.
Here is OJ helping me display the circles sewn on to the blocks...

I forgot to get a picture of the piles and piles of my 36 squares cut in to quarters, but i'm sure you get the idea...

So then I picked a space for each one of these little buddies so that there was not too much of one pattern next to another and so on and so on...

Then I sewed each of the circles back together again...and then all of the rows together.

I had to cheat and add a white strip because it was just too difficult for me to get all of the edges to match up. And I thought that was a better solution than giving up on the project...so I pushed ahead and I have the top part DONE!

Now I just need to decide what I am going to do with the back and get some batting in and quilt this bad boy!
